tym razem się z Tobą nie zgodzę. Ile razy było już tak, że coś go bolało, coś mu przeszkadzało, a na to nie narzekał? Tym razem to naprawdę musiało być coś poważnego skoro się na to skarżył. Don't read too much into Murray's performance

The following declaration will quite possibly put me in a minority of one but I'm convinced that not too much should be read into Andy Murray's performance against Rafael Nadal at the Australian Open this week.

We already knew he was a world class performer - you don't get to beat Roger Federer if you are not. We are also well aware that shot-wise he does not have a weakness and under the guidance of Brad Gilbert he is turning into an excellent tactician. And there are not that many 19-year-olds who ultimately lose matches they have an excellent chance of winning.

Murray will certainly learn from the experience and seems far more open to constructive criticism than we was during most of last year. By now he will have analysed the match and hopefully realised there were a couple of mistakes made. He shouldn't have made such a big show of the fact his side was hurting him when Nadal was desperately seeking a weakness to try and get back in the match. He should have continued to keep the pressure on his opponent second serve and his fitness waned in the final set.

Undeniably Murray's staying power is far better than it was a year ago and this upward curve will hopefully continue to climb. The work he has done with Mark Grabow in the gymnasium is taking effect - unquestionably it hasn't been fun but it a necessity and plenty more is needed. Murray will also become more match tough in respects of not allowing the other guy any insight on how he is feeling. Believe me such things are not easy when you are something of a combustible personality but I'm not too concerned about the critical verbal outbursts that seem to be directed at Gilbert.

Tennis coaches have to be resilient in this sort of situation and Gilbert's massive salary will certainly help him turn the other cheek. The time to worry is when the cheques stop coming after the player tells you they no longer require your services but that not going to happen in this case.

I'm sure Brad would far rather Murray shouts at him to vent his frustration than keeping it all pent up inside. Guys like Bjorn Borg and Roger Federer are good at that kind of thing but Andy is a fiery young man so occasionally he needs to let rip. Better shout at the coach than the umpire. It a less expensive option.

What was more interesting to me was the display of Nadal and the fact top flight coaches and tactically intelligent players, such as Gilbert and Murray, are now working out game-plans that exploit the Spaniard weaknesses. Murray had the perfect game to confuse the Spaniard and for large sections of the match he was in desperately playing second best to the younger guy shot selection, variety of pace and placement.

It showed me that Nadal has not progressed at all since reaching the Wimbledon final last summer and quite possibly has gone backwards. To me he does not quite have the game to contend at the top level on a fast hard court like the Rebound Ace at Melbourne Park this year. He is limited in too many shots and hasn't worked on giving himself options.

Quite simply this is the lesson Murray must learn. At such a young age you must constantly strive to broaden your game, provide yourself with other ways of winning a tennis match. Look to formulate Plans B, C and D. It is what Federer has always done but Andy Roddick or Lleyton Hewitt haven't and now I also doubt Nadal. However his uncle Toni did come up to me in the locker room after the match, ask for my card and enquire whether I could help Rafa with his volleys. I await his telephone call.

Right now it impossible to see anyone threatening Federer's position at the top of the game but when you look for somebody who possesses the best all round game apart from the No1 then you have to nominate Murray. In a few years, if he continues to work and learn, he could be a serious contender for three of the four Grand Slam titles.

The French Open on clay might be a little too much to ask given the production line of Spaniards and South Americans. Everywhere else Murray could be in with a shot and Wimbledon, with the way the grass plays nowadays, seems his perfect environment.

Federer is going to be around for some time yet but he cannot maintain this level for ever. Murray is six years his junior and in view the man most likely to ultimately dethrone the master.
